Echols companies provide a variety of residential options to individuals with developmental disabilities throughout Oakland County. Echols operates two adult foster care settings, an adult foster care family home, and a non-medical home care services for people with disabilities.
Echols Support Services, Inc. is licensed as a “Specialized Residential Care” Adult Foster Care Home corporation. Echols Adult Foster Care is a family home where the residents live with the owners of the home, where they receive 24 hour services and care in a family atmosphere. This home is licensed as a “Specialized Residential Care” Family Adult Foster Care home.
The corporation homes, and the Family home, were designed and built specifically to accommodate Echols residents. Our homes look just like every other home in the neighborhood. There is a cozy, calm, homelike feel about the homes . They are designed to give adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities a family environment, where each resident has a private room, with an attached walk-in closet and a personal bathroom. The residents are encouraged to give their rooms a “personal touch.” The common areas of the homes are well lit and tastefully furnished. The homes are maintained by both caregiver staff and the residents themselves. The homes have plenty of outdoor areas too.
Our In-home services for people with disabilities can help them with household duties, bathing, hygiene and Respite Care . Our caregivers have patience and experience. In-home services are scheduled by appointment.
Some residents attend Sheltered Workshop programs, others are involved in unpaid volunteer work, and some are working on jobs in the community. The Day Programs, that include both paid and unpaid work, are located at New Horizons Rehabilitation Services, Inc., Jewish Vocational Services Inc., Arkay Inc. and Excel Employment Options. Other residents do volunteer, paid, and unpaid work in the community. These jobs involve tasks such as, bagging groceries, janitorial services, greeting customers, and, assembling and inspecting parts.
